Barro Group operates a Concrete & Rock Recycling Facility at 2-22 McIntyre Road, Kealba within the City of Brimbank. The Facility commenced operation on 9 August 1999 and has temporarily ceased operating while it obtains regulatory permissions to operate in accordance with new requirements under the relevant environmental laws.

The Concrete & Rock Recycling Facility is located within a larger site owned by Barro. This larger site, which was formally a quarry, comprises 55.8 hectares, of which 19 hectares is occupied by the Concrete & Rock Recycling Facility (the Site). The remainder of the Barro site accommodates a Concrete Batching Plant and Solid Inert Landfill, as well as a parkland area adjacent to the Maribyrnong River (see Figure below).

• The Concrete Batching Plant -shown by light blue line in the image below. This has operated continuously since the early 1990s.
• The Solid Inert Landfill – shown by dark blue line. The landfill commenced operation in 2015. In 2019, underground hotspots were discovered within the landfill. Subsequently, Barro Group ceased accepting waste at the landfill and commenced remediation, which continues.
